Important Update: Changes to Canada’s Study Permit Application Process

Effective November 8, 2024, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has ended two specialized study permit application streams: the Student Direct Stream (SDS) and the Nigeria Student Express (NSE).

What’s Next?

Eligible SDS and NSE applications received before 2:00 p.m. ET on November 8, 2024, will be processed under these streams. Study permit applications submitted on or after this time will be processed under the regular study permit stream. This means:

• Longer Wait Times: For example, as of today, applications from Vietnam now take an average of 10 weeks to process.
• Planning Ahead: It’s essential to begin your study permit application as early as possible to account for extended processing times.

• Hồ sơ nộp sau thời điểm này sẽ được chuyển sang quy trình xét duyệt thông thường, với các thay đổi đáng chú ý như:
  • Thời gian xử lý lâu hơn: Ví dụ, từ hôm nay, thời gian xét duyệt trung bình cho hồ sơ từ Việt Nam là 10 tuần.
  • Lên kế hoạch trước: Bạn cần bắt đầu nộp hồ sơ càng sớm càng tốt để tránh ảnh hưởng bởi thời gian xử lý kéo dài.
